Pregnancy & Perinatal Anxiety Therapy in Florida
Specialized support for women navigating anxiety, overwhelm, and emotional changes during pregnancy.
Anxiety during pregnancy is one of the most common and least talked about perinatal experiences.
It doesn’t mean something is wrong with you. What you’re feeling has a name, it has a cause, and it is something our team works with every day.
Women come to Monarch Counseling during pregnancy feeling overwhelmed, unlike themselves, and unsure how to make it stop. They leave with clarity, tools that actually work, and a steadiness they did not think was possible while navigating everything pregnancy brings.
You deserve support right now; not just after the baby arrives.
If Pregnancy Feels Harder Than You Expected, You Are Not Alone
Pregnancy anxiety can look like constant worry about the baby's health, your ability to parent, or things going wrong. It can look like overthinking every decision, struggling to be present, or feeling a sense of dread you cannot quite name. For high-functioning women especially, it often stays invisible because they keep showing up and pushing through while carrying something heavy underneath.
Whatever it looks like for you, it is real. And it is something you do not have to manage alone.
Common experiences we work with during pregnancy:
Persistent worry about your baby's health or your pregnancy
Anxiety that feels disproportionate or impossible to turn off
Intrusive or scary thoughts during pregnancy
Fear of childbirth or what life will look like after
Feeling unlike yourself or losing your sense of identity
Prenatal depression, sadness, or emotional flatness
High-functioning anxiety that looks fine but feels relentless
Difficulty enjoying the pregnancy despite wanting to
Relationship strain or changes in intimacy during pregnancy
Processing a previous loss while navigating a new one
What is perinatal anxiety and why does it happen?
Perinatal anxiety refers to anxiety during the period from conception through the first year postpartum. During pregnancy, hormonal shifts, physical changes, and the weight of what is coming can all contribute to an anxious nervous system, even in women who have never experienced significant anxiety before.
Prenatal depression is also more common than most people realize. It is often mistaken for normal pregnancy mood swings or dismissed entirely, and left unaddressed it increases the risk of more significant postpartum struggles.
For women who tend toward high-functioning anxiety or perfectionism, pregnancy can amplify those patterns quickly. The research, the planning, the need to control what cannot be controlled. Therapy can interrupt that cycle and give you a different way through.
